Jumeirah Marsa Al Arab
Sculptural outdoor pieces within a superyacht-inspired setting.
Jumeirah Marsa Al Arab completes a recognisable sequence on Dubai’s shoreline: the wave of Jumeirah Beach Hotel, the sail of Burj Al Arab and, here, the lines of a superyacht. Killa Design’s architecture gives the resort its fluid silhouette, while a dramatic 36-metre arch frames a view towards Burj Al Arab. The building is conceived to be seen, but also to shape what guests see from within it.
NextSpace supplied sculptural outdoor pieces from Indigenus, collaborating with ALEC and a France-based art consultant. The contribution introduced objects whose role sits between furnishing and landscape, bringing material presence and a more intimate scale to the resort’s exterior composition.
The relevance of Indigenus lies in the space between landscape and object. A sculptural planter can introduce planting while also giving an outdoor setting a defined form and material presence. At a resort with such a strong architectural identity, these pieces operate at a more intimate scale, creating moments of detail without competing with the building’s larger gesture.
