AMAALA Yacht Club
Shade shaped for a new maritime landmark.
AMAALA Yacht Club gives the Red Sea coastline an architectural expression drawn from the coast itself. HKS designed its cantilevered terraces in response to local rock formations, creating a building that reaches out towards the marina. At the arrival arch, a mirrored ceiling above a star-lit floor introduces an unexpected inversion of the night sky: a small, memorable moment within a much larger waterfront composition.
NextSpace supplied a multi-brand outdoor furniture package that included Umbrosa umbrellas, working with Red Sea Global and Areen Design on the project. The contribution brought furniture and shade into a setting where the experience of the terraces is inseparable from the identity of the club.
Here, shade is both practical and architectural. It creates a more sheltered place to pause without closing off the relationship with the water. Umbrosa’s clear structural language gives the outdoor areas a defined but restrained presence, allowing the building’s projecting terraces and the marina beyond to remain the principal visual experience.
