Fern Teak High Back Daybed

Sebastian Herkner, born in 1981 in Bad Mergentheim, Germany, pursued product design at HfG Offenbach am Main (Offenbach University of Art and Design). During his studies, he developed a keen interest in creating objects and furniture that blend different cultural influences, combining modern technologies with traditional craftsmanship to showcase the beauty of materials and draw attention to subtle details.

While still a student, Herkner had the opportunity to intern with Stella McCartney in London, an experience that refined his understanding of materials, colours, structures, and textures. He says, My work has a sensitivity and identity that emphasizes function, material, and detail. I take elements from different societal and cultural contexts and interpret them in new objects. This character brings respect and personality to even the most ordinary items. In this way, seemingly opposing elements can be harmoniously appreciated.
